Gaikai, the cloud gaming service, announced a platform partner deal with Machinima, the world’s leading video entertainment network for gamers. Machinima's award-winning content will be available for license via Gaikai's open cloud gaming platform, for integration across all Gaikai-powered devices.
Machinima's online global video entertainment network boasts an astounding 168 million unique gamers, who viewed more than 1.61 billion videos in April 2012, making Machinima the most popular entertainment channel on YouTube. Machinima properties are found across distribution platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, iOS and Android, and will be launching this fall on Xbox.
“We're greatly expanding the value of what Gaikai offers gamers and our platform partners by collaborating with Machinima to provide award-winning video content that dramatically enriches the end-user experience. Machinima has quickly grown into the world’s most popular video entertainment network for gamers by creating exceptional programming, which can be integrated seamlessly using the Gaikai cloud gaming service,” said Robert Stevenson, EVP at Gaikai.
“Our content keeps our fans highly engaged and active with their favorite games, and has increasingly expanded to original series. Gaikai’s open cloud platform and ever growing list of impressive platform partners will allow us to increase our brand’s reach across multiple platforms,” said Sanjay Sharma, EVP Strategy and Business Development at Machinima.
With this move Gaikai follows in the footsteps of OnLive which partnered with GameSpot last August and features GameSpot video content such as game reviews and in-depth interviews along their cloud games library, providing OnLive users with a trusted point of view as they go through their own games discovery process.
