OnLive Has Several Announcements in Store for CES 2012 Next Week, Including OnLive App for iOS Update

The 2012 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) will be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 10-13 this year, meaning it is less than a week away.

OnLive will have several announcements at CES, it has been revealed.

When asked for an update on the iOS client for the cloud gaming service, OnLive UK general manager Bruce Grove said we can expect to hear more at the Las Vegas consumer show.

"Watch this space, some announcements coming out of CES next week," he said.

While many people have been wondering if OnLive would have a booth at this year’s CES event, OnLive seemed uncertain about it until recently. However, Bruce Grove informed us that they will be on hand at CES in Vegas. He in fact will be one of the representatives from the cloud gaming company. He will be joined by Christopher Donahue, Director, Worldwide Publisher Relations at OnLive. Donahue is expected to be a speaker on January 9 at The Gaming Addition: Social Gaming, Apps and Game Networks conference at CES.

“No booth but we’ll be there, watch for announcements,” Grove said.

No other information, other than a tweet made by Grove himself, was made available. In that tweet, Grove said, “Time to pack up and head to Vegas for CES. Some great stuff coming up for @OnLive.”

This leads us to wonder just what we could expect. OnLive has already announced their mobile app just a few weeks ago. However, we do know that this is a "Consumer Electronics” show. This may lead some of us to question if it is possible that we will begin seeing OnLive roll out on Vizio TVs; something that the company had said would happen before the end of 2011.

There is already a well-sourced rumour that major TV companies will be making announcements of new net-connected Smart TVs arriving with a bundled OnLive App at CES 2012 in Las Vegas next week.

However, Vizio won’t have a booth at the show, according to the Official CES website. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be announcements made from the company at the event though.

We do know that Vizio has plans for a new line of TVs and they teased this with a Rose Bowl commercial this past week (seen below). Could this be one of the announcements that OnLive will be making at CES 2012, or will it be something totally different?

  1. Nice post. I liked the post. One overriding characteristic of consumer electronic products is the trend of ever-falling prices. While Consumer Electronics continues in its trend of convergence, combining elements of many products, consumers face different decisions when purchasing. Great post!
