Green Man Gaming Uses Gaikai Demos

Green Man Gaming partnered with Gaikai to offer Gaikai cloud streamed PC game demos to their users, for some of their digital PC game downloads, whatever the specifications of their home computer. For now it looks like Green Man Gaming is mostly offering game demos that are already on the Gaikai game page. Games with demos include Crysis 2, FIFA 12, Magicka, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Bulletstorm and Mass Effect 2.

Green Man Gaming was founded in 2010 and is backed by Eden Ventures.

Green Man Gaming (GMG) is the leading UK-based independent digital retailer for PC games, selling more than 900 titles from 85 publishing partners to 146 countries around the world.

Thanks to its unique proprietary technology, GMG offers consumers the ability to trade-in their digitally downloaded games for new purchases, while enabling publishers to generate on-going revenue from their intellectual property. Green Man Gaming is the only games retailer to pay a royalty back to a publisher on all pre-owned sales.

Gaikai is already delivering time limited cloud streaming game demos of full PC games on their web page and to other sites like Best Buy, YouTube, EA Origin and Eurogamer. They also intend to bring full PC games to LG Smart TVs. Gaikai rival OnLive has partnered with IGN and GameSpot to provide game demos.

Paul Sulyok, Managing Director, Green Man Gaming, said: “Gaikai’s seamless streaming experience will help our customers reach a decision on the right games to buy. We realise money is tight, so we’re committed to offering gamers our best prices. Our partnership with Gaikai gives consumers a great chance to instantly sample if a game is for them before parting with their hard earned cash. It’s incredibly exciting to see Gaikai teaming up with a young, hungry online retailer in Green Man Gaming, alongside heavyweight publishers, retailers and media brands.”

Robert Stevenson, SVP Interactive Entertainment, Gaikai added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Green Man Gaming in streaming our growing portfolio of triple A titles to their customers. GMG has demonstrated great growth and we anticipate that our streaming service will further accelerate their digital business.”
