Bridge It Coming To OnLive

Chronic Logic has announced that their popular title, Bridge It, is coming to OnLive in the US and UK. Chronic Logic is well known for their high quality bridge building games including: Bridge Construction Set, Bridge It, and Pontifex, but they have also created an amazing platformer called Gish. Chronic Logic is planning to release Bridge It in OnLive’s PlayPack come January, 2012. They plan to add achievements and leaderboards to the game, and hope to bring other titles to the cloud gaming service.

In Bridge It, a stunning, beautiful world awaits as you take on the challenge of bridging the chasm. Can you solve the puzzles and avert disaster?

Set in the picturesque surroundings of sparse deserts and dense forests it is your task to strategically design and construct an engineering masterpiece. Watch in eager anticipation as unsuspecting motorists, heavy freight trains and tourist riverboats approach. Will your solution stand up to the test or will tons of mangled steel be sent plummeting into the river below?

Based on the award winning Bridge Construction Set (Pontifex II) and using the Auran Jet 3D Engine, Bridge It offers a host of real time effects that surpass many pre-rendered scenes.

Below is an interview from OnLive Informer with Josiah Pisciotta, Game Developer and Web Designer with Chronic Logic.

The Interview:

Informer: What benefit do you see in bringing Bridge It to OnLive?

Josiah: OnLive is an interesting and innovative new distribution platform that we hope will expand the players base for our games by removing hardware restrictions and exposing them to new players.

Informer: What inspired you to develop Bridge It?

Josiah: Bridge It is based on our previous title Bridge Construction Set. The inspiration to develop Bridge It mostly came from Nvidia’s offer to help take Bridge Construction Set and improve the graphics and interface to make a new game that would be used as a demo for NVIDIA graphics cards. I was very excited to work with NVIDIA and see new life breathed into Bridge Construction Set.

Informer: How is Bridge It better than Bridge Construction Set?

Josiah: Bridge It has greatly enhanced graphics and a new and improved user interface.

Informer: Since Bridge It was a collaboration of Auran, Chronic Logic, and NVIDIA, who is handling the port to OnLive?

Josiah: Chronic Logic is bringing Bridge It to OnLive.

Informer: The game features 30 levels, but how long does it take to complete a single level?

Josiah: The early levels are fairly simple and can be completed in a few minutes however, as the levels increase in difficulty and complexity, it is possible to spend hours experimenting and tweaking your bridges for a single level.

Informer: Bridge It boasts the ability to swap designs with friends. Will the OnLive version have this feature?

Josiah: I am not yet sure if this will work with the OnLive version or not.

Informer: Will there be a leaderboard or achievements for the OnLive version?

Josiah: As this is our first title launched with OnLive it will just be a PlayPack title and will not have achievements or leaderboard support yet. This is something we would like to add in the future though.

Informer: Has a release date been established? Will the game release simultaneously in the UK and US?

Josiah: It will probably be available in January 2012.

Informer: Is there a chance we will see any of Chronic Logic’s other titles on the service such as Gish or Kingdom Elemental?

Josiah: Yes. We hope to add other titles to OnLive after Bridge It is launched.

Informer: Thanks for your time. Is there anything you would like to add for our readers?

Josiah: If you have not tried any of our Bridge Building games give them a chance, they are lot more fun then they might sound!
