Coming to OnLive: A Glittery Pink MicroConsole and Different PlayPack Package Options?

We know that OnLive has teamed with GAME Group plc in the UK, and they have said many times in the past that they will be teaming with retailers in the US as well. Which retailers, other than GAME is OnLive working deals out with? That we don’t know. However, according to OnLive Founder and CEO Steve Perlman, one retailer has come to OnLive with a proposition to sell a pink version of the OnLive MicroConsole with glitter on it. This Pink version of the OnLive Game System would also come packaged with a specific female edition of the PlayPack, which would only include girls’ games.

According to Perlman, “OnLive found it amusing and said sure!”

Could we really see more specific PlayPack packages become available as more and more games are added to the service? Could we see customizable MicroConsoles in retail outlets as well? It certainly seems as though OnLive is interested in this proposition.

With this idea, OnLive could potentially create several different PlayPack packages. There could be a package designed specifically for kids under 18, another one for adults, another for girls, another for sports enthusiasts… and the list goes on. We have heard many OnLive users complaining about certain games that are currently in the PlayPack. While there is no reason to really complain, since gamers aren’t paying more based on the amount of games added, some adult gamers still do. Right now, there is no need to really break apart the PlayPack. However, in a year from now, when perhaps there are 500 games in the PlayPack, there might be more incentive to do so.

Whether we actually see these ideas make it to the marketplace or not, is still up in the air, but according to Perlman, OnLive did say “Sure” to the idea.
