Inversion is Coming to OnLive, A Game From Namco Bandai and Saber Interactive

At PAX 2011, came news that we will soon see Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for OnLive. Another game that several people spotted of being displayed at the OnLive booth at PAX, was Inversion. This comes as great news for gamers who want more third-person shooters on the cloud gaming service.

Inversion is a game by developer Saber Interactive, and publisher Namco Bandai. It has been under development since 2008, and still won’t be released until February of 2012. Whether or not it will be coming to OnLive as early as February, is still up in the air. This will be the first game brought to OnLive by Namco Bandai. However, it isn’t the first from Saber Interactive, as they have brought Battle: Los Angeles to the cloud service previously.

Inversion is a third-person shooter which is quite different than most other games from this genre. The game’s characters wear gravity controlling backpacks, which allows gamers to do many things that they normally wouldn’t be able to do in a regular third-person shooter. Players can emit a Zero G bubble on enemies, which basically makes them weightless. For example, if you know an enemy is hiding somewhere, you turn off gravity and make them float into sight.

The game features co-op gameplay which allow for both single and multiplayer gaming. For example, the game could start out in single player mode, and your friends could jump in and out of the game as they feel needed.

This is certainly a game that many OnLive members will be looking forward to. Since it is scheduled to release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it is assumed that it will have full OnLive gamepad support.

While many OnLive fans are hoping this means that Namco Bandai will bring more of their games to OnLive, this is still up for debate. While OnLive does like to form partnerships with Publishers, and the company’s logo was on display at PAX, it is quite possible that they are working more closely with the developer of this game, Saber Interactive. It would surely be great if OnLive and Namco Bandai form a partnership to bring more of the publisher’s games to the system. They include games such as: Tekken 6 and Enslaved, with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, Soulcalibur V, Tekken Hybrid and Dark Souls coming soon.
